Lee ready to take O'Neil back

Colin Lee is ready to make a move on Portsmouth's Gary O'Neil.

Speaking to SkySports.com Lee said........

"Gary O'Neil did the job for us for a while and, although he didn't score, he did brilliantly."

"He is injured at the moment but I would be interested in taking him back. We have some quality players in midfield - I'm trying to get some legs in around them."

O'Neil spent one month with the club earlier on in the season, coinciding with a great run of form for the team . His stint with the Saddlers saw them win 4, draw 1 and lose 2 two of their games.

Able to play out wide or down the middle he gave our midfield an extra dimension. His energetic displays made him a favourite with the fans who appreciated what a difference he made to the midfield.

Upon returning to Pompey he made the first team, featuring in 3 Premier League games. The only reason Pompey called him back was that they had selection problems in the midfield. Now that Redknapp has bolstered his squad, and has first teamers back he may be willing to let O'Neil join us again. Especially if he wants him to regain match fitness.

With Paul Merson in rehab for an indefinite period we need reinforcements. Particularly ones with creative abilities. Having been prevented from signing Kieran Richardson from Manchester United, Gary O'Neil fits the bill for what we need.
