The reason for the urgency of Paul Bracewell's appointment became clear today, with the news that Colin Lee is facing an operation.

The official web site has announced that Colin Lee will miss the Wigan game, as he has to go into hospital for an operation on his hip and leg, a legacy of his playing days.

He is hoping to be back for the Sunderland and West Ham games, but certainly will not be fit to take his place on the touchline for either.

This is a scheduled operation and this is the only time his surgeon could fit him in.
