with him before at Aston Villa and he's someone i rate very highly". Merse
also said that Standing is a player with a huge amount of potential - but
"needs to work with someone who believes in him".
Standing signed for Villa in
1998, but failed to make progress and moved to Bradford in March 2002. He has
played well over 30 games for Bantams, but has only managed 6 appearances this
term. He hasn't played any kind of competitive football since Christmas.
Standing is a Keith Andrews
type midfielder who is box-to-box and good on the ball.
Fans will be glad to see that
Merse is already busy planning for next season.
