Colin Lee Move Played Down by Leeds

The Times and the BBC are both reporting today that Colin Lee will be offered the number 2 job at Leeds, by new manager Kevin Blackwell.

Kevin Blackwell has said that there are likely to be wholesale changes at Leeds United this season and, obviously, feels that the experience of Colin Lee at this level will be invaluable.

The BBC and the Times are both reporting that:-

Blackwell thinks Lee's Division One know-how will be vital next season.

"What I want to make sure is that the people I am going to appoint are here for the long term for Leeds," he said.

"There will be big changes. I want a new culture at this football club.

"We can draw a line in the sand now and anybody who comes into the club knows exactly what is expected of them."

However, Blackwell was going out his way to play down the rumours on the official web site. He did not deny them, though:-

United manager Kevin Blackwell has played down claims that Colin Lee has been offered the chance to become his assistant at Elland Road.

Blackwell poured cold water on several newspaper reports this morning when he told Leedsunited.com that he had not offered the former Walsall manager a position at the club, and went on to say:

"I have not made a decision on that yet, as we stand I will be speaking to two or three people today.

"I'm working hard to make sure I get the staff in who will help to rebuild the infrastructure at the club, and who will have the right qualities we need to ensure our players are the best prepared in the First Division next season."
