We have scanned Football League and had a look at where our former staff are playing. We also predict how they will be received should they turn out against ourselves.
1) Sing his name 2) Rapturous Applause 3) Pleasant Applause 4) No noise 5) The odd Boo 6) Constant Booing AINSWORTH, Gareth -
ANDREWS, Keith - Wasn't he supposed to be leaving Wolves? He is still there for the start of 2004-2005. - Pleasant Applause
BAIRD, Chris - Is still at Southampton. Finished 03-04 off at Watford. They haven't farmed him out anywhere else so he could well get a regular game down at St Mary's. - Pleasant applause
BARRAS, Tony -Has signed for Macclesfield Town following a spell with Notts County. Barras is a crowd favourite every where he goes. A key member of the team that bounced back in 00-01. - Sing his name
BENNETT, Tom - Falkirk’s finest is still around. 34 year old Tom Bennett is looking forward to forging a midfield partnership with Gazza at Boston United. Our play-off winning skipper isn't that popular, but is well remembered - Sing his name
BRADBURY, Lee - Has joined Oxford. They have a strong squad and look set to have a right good go at winning promotion this season. - No Noise
BURTON, Deon - Had a short loan spell with us last season. Left Pompey in the summer and is now with Brentford. - No Noise
BUTLER, Martin - Despite his best efforts he couldn't save us from relegation. From Villain to Hero. Martin is still at Rotherham, but is currently sidelined with a nasty Hepatitis infection. Get well soon. - Sing his name
BYFIELD, Darren - Turned down a second spell at Bescot to sign for Gillingham. Byfield is said to have used the Saddlers to get a better deal elsewhere. Not a popular man. - Constant Booing
CAINES, Gavin - Got released last season. Has linked up with Cheltenham Town where he is on a 3 month contract. - No noise
CARBON, Matt - Joined the Club, looked impressive, retired, came out of retirement, couldn't get in the team, got released then signed for Barnsley. Went on to say what a better Club Barnsley were. - Constant Booing
CRAMB, Colin - Made a big impression during a short loan spell. Cramb played up front with Andy Rammell for a small part of the 98/99 season. We wanted to sign him up, but couldn’t afford the £200,000 fee. Crewe could, and snapped him up. He is currently with Shrewsbury Town. - Pleasant applause
DINNING, Tony - Is still a Wigan player, but the Latics have allowed him to join Ipswich Town on loan. He was unspectacular while at the Bescot last season. No Noise.
EVANS, Wayne - Evo joined Rochdale 5 years ago. He should hit 500 career appearances sometime this season. Not bad for someone who made their professional debut at 21. One of our best finds from non-league football. Evo turns 33 on August 25th. Still plenty of life in those legs yet! - Sing his name
FORRESTER, Jamie - Had a 5 game spell at Bescot in 99-00. Is now playing for Bristol Rovers. - No noise
HALL, Paul - The Jamaican International is part of Brian Little's much fancied Tranmere Rovers side. Hall played an important role in the 00-01 promotion campaign which ended in Play-Off Final glory. - Pleasant Applause
HARPER, Kevin - A controversial figure amongst Walsall fans. Had a phenomenal loan spell in 99-00. We had the chance to sign him, but wouldn't stump up the cash. He went on to join our relegation rivals - Portsmouth for £300,000. We tried to get him on loan last season, but Norwich came in for him. He is still at Pompey. - The odd boo
HARPER, Lee - Possibly the best understudy Jimmy ever had. Left the Saddlers for Northampton Town where he has been the Number 1 ever since. Pleasant Applause
JUNIOR - We all know who he plays for. We all know why. Derby pay more money in wages than Walsall. Constant Booing
KEATES, Dean - Deano always looked like he could do better than the lower divisions. Yet he is now with Kiddy after a move from Hull. He scored the winner against us in a recent friendly, yet could only make the bench for Kiddy's opening game of 04-05. Sing his name.
MCSPORRAN, Jermaine - Left the Saddlers in the Summer and signed for Doncaster Rovers. Unlucky to have picked up an injury which rules him out of the start of the season. No Noise.
OAKES. Steffan - Why did Colin Lee sign him then allow him to leave for free? Steffan is still with Notts County. No noise.
O'CONNOR, Martyn - Now at Shrewsbury Town following 2 periods with Saddlers. Had a few contract problems with Salop. It looks as though they wouldn't pay our Mart what he was worth. - Sing his name.
O'NEIL. Gary - Our best signing last season. If only we could persuade Pompey to let us borrow him again for a few months ! - Rapturous Applause.
PADULA, Gino - It takes one hell of a player to join mid-season then scoop then player of the year award. Gino did jus that, then skulked off to Wigan where he hardly got a kick. Currently part of Ian Holloway’s QPR squad. Constant Booing
PLATT, Clive - Is now with Peterborough' United following spells with Rochdale and Notts County. Rochdale paid a record 100k to sign him in September 1999. He never quite lived up to the Rochdale fans expectations. No noise.
RICKETTS, Michael - Now with Leeds United. Arrives at Leeds following spells with Bolton, M'boro and a deeply embarrassing England appearance which proved he isn't the top class striker some people say he is. The current crop of Bescot Babes could learn a lot from what he has done. Don't behave like numbty when you want to leave a club. Constant Booing
RODRIGUES, Dani - Signed for Bournemouth this summer. Left the Saddlers after only one appearance. Went to play in Greece, then had a short spell with Yeovil. This is the second time he has played for the Cherries. No noise.
SMITH, Dean - Left Sheffield Wednesday to join Port Vale in time for the 2004-2005 season. It's been over 10 years since he left the Saddlers. Pleasant Applause.
UHLENBEEK, Gus - Has joined Tony Adams at Adams Park. Left Chesterfield at the end of last season. Had an impressive loan spell with the Saddlers at the end of 01-02. No noise
VINCENT, Jamie - Was on loan to us, but left when Derby offered him a deal last season. Vincent is still with the Rams. No Noise.
VIVEASH, Ade - Is currently on loan to Kiddy for the second time. He is contracted to Swindon Town, but at 34 years of age he is better suited to playing lower division football where he is still a quality defender. Sing his name. Sing his name.
WALKER, Jimmy - Super Jim is currently doing a bit of bench warming at Upton Park. He is going to have to work hard to dislodge Hammers number 1 Steve Bywater. Sing his name.
WARD, Gavin - Is now with Preston North End after starting last season as the Coventry City number 1. Likely to play second fiddle at Deepdale. Rapturous applause.
There are also a few Saddlers playing in Scotland. Greg Shields is at Dunfermline. Paul Ritchie is with Dundee, while Gary Wales is playing for Kilmarnock.
