Goalkeeping crisis?

Tough time for McKinney by 4two 

^{Mr McKinney has gone from Hero to Zero within 3 or 4 games. Prior to the Villa game neither he nor Mark Paston looked all that convincing.}

^{Paston had a poor debut against Chester, while McKinney was untested until the Villa game, where he emerged as the man who we thought could replace Super Jim.}

^{So McKinney was made number 1 for the Vale game. We won the game 3-2, McKinney was partly at fault for the last Vale goal, and maybe he could have done better with the one that looped over his head?}

^{Then to the Bournemouth game. He got a fair bit of stick from the media, and looked very unsteady. And then there was the Oldham debacle. You can blame poor goalkeeping for at least two of them.}  

^EXPOSED

^{So what now? Many are calling for Paston to be given his chance. But isn’t this a bit harsh? Has anyone thought about the fact that our goalkeeper (and backline) is very exposed? People are going on about how exposed the full backs are; yet our gung-ho attacking style of play leaves the back door open. This eventually means our keeper gets more practice than your average number 1.}

^{Lets be honest, hands up who expects to see us keeping clean sheets week in, week out?} 

^{If you allow the opposition to have so many chances on goal, then the man between the sticks is bound to slip up eventually.}

^{Someone on the Radio said the average goalkeeper only makes a handful of mistakes a season – Yet McKinney has made loads already. It might be fairer to look at situation from the goalkeepers perspective. How would you perform if you played in our all out attack side?}

^{The attacking football is great, but it’s going to put pressure on certain members of the squad. If Paston gets his chance, do you honestly expect him to cope any better than McKinney? They are both former “Reserve Team” keepers short on week in-week out football. Now either we change the way we play,  or we allow them time to bed in. Then again, Merse isn’t afraid of holding his hands up and admitting he is wrong. Will he move in to the loan market and recruit an able goalkeeper.}
