Ex Villa Trialist Arrives

Hot on the heels of Corica's departure, it appears Paul Merson is looking at using some of the money saved on an ex Villa full back.

Paul Merson seems to be about to raid his knowledge of current and former Aston Villa reserves, as former Villa youngster, Jonathan Bewers, will be playing in our reserve fixture tonight at Rotherham United.

Brewer is a full back, now 21, who has represented England at Under 15, 16, 17 and 18 levels.

He graduated from the National School of Excellence to sign professional forms with Villa in 1999, but has made only one substitute appearance in five years, and spent the last two months of last season at Notts County following his release from Villa Park.

Ian Roper is being given a run out in the same game, having missed the last two through suspension.

The full team for the Rotherham game is:

Richard McKinney, Jonathan Bewers, Jonny Harkness, Kris Taylor, Scott Dann, Ian Roper, Nathan Jameson, Bruce Wheeler, Leroy Williams, David McDermott, Mark Wright. Subs: Dean Coleman (GK), Sean Platt, Graham Deakin.
