Keen On Bewers, Williams Deal Back On

Ex Villa youngster and full back Bewers apparantly made a good impression in the reserves ast night, but it's an International central defender, who has interested Lee and Merson in his time who is making the main news.

The official site is saying that England Youth International full back Jonathon Bewers made a good impression for the reserves last night and that Paul Merson is keen to sign him, in an attempt to put some pressure on Darren Bazeley.

In the meantime, however, Merson has also said he is trying to resurrect the deal to bring ex Wimbledon left sided central defender and Northern Ireland International Mark Williams to the club. Merson ahd tried and failed to get the player in the Summer, following in the footsteps of Colin Lee, who had tried the previous year. He sees Williams' experience as vital in steadying his rocky defence.
