Walsall are about to take a player on loan - but the surprise is, it's a keeper - West Bromwich Albion's Irish International Joe Murphy.

West Bromwich Albion message boards are reporting that we are taking their reserve goalkeeper Joe Murphy on a month's loan, with a view to extending the period to three months.

There has been a rumour circulating on a Walsall message board that Mark Paston is carrying an injury and that we are about to sign a replacement on loan. West Bromwich Albion sources are reporting that the man in question is their former Tranmere keeper, Joe Murphy.

Murphy is a highly rated 23 year old Irish International keeper, with two caps to his name. Albion acquired his services in 2002 from Tranmere, where he had made some 61 appearances, as back up for Hoult, but has only made 3 appearances for the club, due to Hoult's form. He is six feet two and around 13 stones.
