With the on loan Albion man injured on his debut, and the former number two crocked playing for the reserves, Merson's looking for another loan keeper.
The club are desperately looking for another loan keeper before Saturday's trip to North Wales.
Joe Murphy picked up a groin strain on his debut on Saturday and will be out for around three weeks. Despite this, he will be staying with Walsall for the time being, so it looks as if his loan spell will be extended to three months.
In the meantime, ex Chelsea trialist Joel Kitamirike put Mckinney out of the game for several weeks in a collision while playing for the reserves yesterday, leaving us with only one senior keeper fit for Saturday.
Merson is casting around for another loan keeper to plug the gap until Murphy returns.
In the coaching developments, Archie Knox has returned home to Scotland while the club ponders it's options. Former Saddlers' favourite Richard O'Kelly is another man whose name emerged today, following the news that he was at the ground on Saturday. He is at present assistant at Bournemouth, so it may well just have been him being back home while his team didn't have a game.
