In a surprise development, ex Manchester United trainee Kris Taylor has been transfer listed by Walsall player manager Paul Merson.
Tucked away in the Evening Mail feature on the club reaction to Saturday’s defeat came a piece of news that hadn’t been well publicised – the transfer listing of former Manchester United trainee Kris Taylor.
When talking about Zigor Aranalde’s poor performance against Hull, the paper said that one problem was that there was no competition for the left back slot and that Kris Taylor’s poor performance there was one of the reasons for him "being transfer listed". While the player hasn't made the progress we all hoped when he was signed by Colin Lee and the club does have too many central midfielders, this has still come as a bit of a surprise.
The article says that Merson and Barlow are struggling to find defensive reinforcements with their small budget and need to make changes in the squad.
This news about defensive strengthening is all the stranger, considering that we have extended the trial of former Manchester United man Danny Byrne, yet another attacking midfielder, who is playing for the reserves this afternoon.
