Darren Bazeley Leaves The Club

Walsall have announced that former Wolves and Watford right back Darren Bazeley has left the club by "mutual consent", to seek first team football.

The official site made the announcement this afternoon.

Bazeley was one of the most convincing and consistent performaers in his first season for Walsall, back in the first division, and was a popular member of the squad. Last season, however, his form had deserted him in the higher division and he did have a very disappointing time.

Many fans thought that, following relegation, he would shine again this season, but he struggled again in the first few games and Merson started casting around for a replacement.

With Mark Wright having made the right back berth his own at the moment, Bazeley's chances were likely to be few, so Merson, following what he said last week about the squad, has come to an agreement with Darren.

TheSaddlersFC wishes him every success in the future.
