Merson To Drop Himself At Stockport?

Paul Merson is considering dropping himself for the trip to bottom of the table Stockport County on Saturday, in a bid to earn Walsall their first away win of the season, according to the Evening Mail.

Despite the fact he laid on both goals in his side's 2-1 victory at home to Peterborough last Saturday, Paul Merson is thinking about putting himself on the bench next weekend at Stockport.
"I've had it in my mind and you have to have a look at yourself sometimes," he told the Evening Mail.
It seems that he now recognises that the 4 3 1 2 formation away from home is a bit of a luxury because his game is not suited to tackling back and closing players down.
Merson is now saying that the side may be better off with a more combative midfielder starting in a 4 4 2 and bringing himself on as a substitute, if needed.
He added: "The record shows we haven't won away and maybe we need to try and keep it tight and then make something happen late on instead of opening the game up and then chasing it."
The assumption must be that he is considering a midfield four of Standing, Osborn, Kinsella and Wrack on Saturday.
