Fryatt: England or Walsall

Young Matt Fryatt now has a major decision to make. Will it be England U19s on Wednesday or Walsall on Friday? Could it be both?

After his match winning hat trick display against Huddersfield young Matty Fryatt has been called up to the England U19 squad. A great honour obviously but with England playing on Wednesday and the Saddlers lining up at Ashton Gate on the Friday what decision should the young man take.

It has been noted in the press that Merson is trying to get the FA to agree to Matty training with the England squad but not actually playing thus keeping him fresh for the Bristol City game.

Playing for your country no matter at what level is one of the greatest honours that can be given to a player. I for one would not begrudge Matty Fryatt should he decide to choose England over the Saddlers. Yes, I would be upset that we would miss him for such a vital match but could not in my heart of hearts ridicule him for choosing his country.

At the end of the day it should be down to the young man to make up his own mind. As supporters we should respect and understand his decision.
