Keeper Crisis

With the injury to Joe Murphy Walsall have been plunged into a goalkeeping crisis. It may well be a debut for Coleman at Ashton Gate Friday evening.

Walsall have been plunged into a mini goalkeeping crisis. Joe Murphy has returned from his training session with the Republic of Ireland due to a groin injury.

With Paston now released and McKinney still injured Walsall may have to call on 18 year old Coleman who has yet to start a first team game.

It may be that Murphy has been hiding this injury for some time given some of the goals he has conceded recently. Over the last 3 weeks or so there has seemingly been a lack of effort on his part in trying to keep some shots out. If that is the case then it would be better to start with the youngster rather than conceding sloppy goals and risking further injury.

However, Merson is hopeful that Whitney's magic sponge will do the trick and he will be fit for Friday's encounter.

It is worth remembering that every keeper has to make a start sometime. Super Jim was only a babby when he first played. Legend.
