Proud of Fryatt

Fryatt started for the England U19s last night in Belgium. We should all be very proud that he is flying the Walsall flag. Question is: Can we keep him?

Matty Fryatt started in the England u19 match last night against Belgium. The game finished as a 1-1 draw. Unfortunately Fryatt wasn’t on the score sheet and was replaced at half time.

Whether Fryatt will start tomorrow night against Bristol City is Merson’s call. However, if he is omitted completely I will be astonished. Playing 45 minutes of football on a Wednesday should surely not “tire” a player so much as to prevent him competing on a Friday evening.

Some people may point at the travelling involved but it’s only Belgium for Pete’s sake.

Whether Fryatt plays or not, we can all be proud that this young lad from an unfashionable club is making the grade.

Looking at the team line ups there were players from Middlesbro’, Everton, Arsenal, Man Utd et al. and in amongst that lot was our very own Matty. Good on ya mate!

The only other question is: How long will we be able to hold on to him?
