"The man who can"

It's nearly time to vote for your player of the season. Will Darren Wrack be in your thoughts? Why should he get your vote?

 

^{He isn't the charismatic keeper, he isn't the rock at the back. You can't call him the midfield general. He will never be called the hot shot striker. So will Darren Wrack be your player of the season?} 

^{With over 300 appearances and nearly 50 goals to his name I think that a fair few of us take his presence for granted. Darren Wrack has been at the heart of our side for the last 2 seasons without that much recognition.}

^{Wrack has seen it all since he signed in 1998. 3 managers, 2 promotions, 2 relegations and a whole host of changes on and off the field. Only Ian Roper has been here longer.} 

^{He's had good seasons, he's had bad seasons. Yet the last 18 months have seen him become one of our most reliable performers. In the days where you hear players moaning about there favourite positions you here no such rumblings from our Mr Versatile.} 

^{Wrack has 7 goals to his name this season. He also got a fair few last season. They always seem to arrive at times when our strikers aren't finding the back of the net.} 

^{No matter what system the Gaffer decides to play Darren Wrack is always one of the first names down on the team sheet. No matter what events happen in the match, Wrack is one of the players who rarely gets taken off. When injuries and suspensions strike, we know he can cover just about every outfield position.} 

^{Have we had a more versatile midfield player in the last 10 years? He can hold, attack or  play on either flank. He's an effective wing back and a competent full back. He was  even been used as a second striker by Ray Graydon.} 

^{You can't hand out this award for past service, but you can vote for a player because of his value to the  club in general.} 

^{It would be sad if his strange taste in hairstyles prevented you from voting for him, but please bare in mind that his performances on the field  by far outweigh his embarrassing selection of haircuts since 1998. Wrack is a good character to have around and is always willing to have a bit of banter with the Walsall crowd.}  

^{So when casting your vote for the player of the season spare a thought for "the man who can". Think about what our team would be like without him. Consider what it would take to replace him. It's time to recognise the value of Darren Wrack.}
