Former striker is warned

Former Walsall striker Gary Birch has been told that his reputation will only last so long and that he could find himself out of the Football League if he doesn't start to produce.

The warning comes from Harriers boss Stuart Watkiss who played for the Saddlers in the mid 1990s.

Up to 7 clubs are said be chasing Birch who could only muster 3 goals during his time with the Harriers.

With the relegated Harriers unable to pay Birch what he wants, he is now searching for a new club.

Watkiss knows the ability is there, but doubts if Birch has the attitude to go with it, saying - "There hasn't been enough to go with his undoubted ability and he's probably to nice"

Watkiss also went on to add that no one will see the best of Gary Birch until he loses weight and ups his fitness levels.

The general gist of the Birch situation is that the reputation of his talent will only get him so far. He must now start to deliver the goods or face a future outside of the Football League.
