Stevie Cooke has been released by Aston Villa He's currently in talks about a move to Bournemouth - he also has other clubs tracking his progress.
Cooke was with the Saddlers as a youngster but left for Manchester quicker than you could say Malcolm Glazier. He then moved to Villa after failing to settle at Old Trafford.
Paul Merson is a former team mate, and big admirer of Cooke's talents. So much so he toyed with the idea of bringing him to Bescot earlier on in the season.
Cooke's links to the Bournemouth are strong. The Walsall born youngster has spent a fair amount of time out on loan at Dean Court.
Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll has told the media...
Stephen is someone we've had come here before and he's done very well with us. He's a skilful player, well liked by the fans and is the type of player we would be interested in having here."
Also adding....
"A number of other clubs have also expressed an interest so hopefully we can put something together in the near future. He's kept in touch with a couple of the players throughout the season, knows the area and knows the way we like to play the game. He'd be a successful addition to our squad."
Are we one of the clubs interested? Given our past interest in the player it would be foolish to rule anything out.
