The negative vibes we're getting from the Joachim trail has led us to look at other alternatives, one of these is the Shenstone born James Vaughan.

Vaughan became the youngest goalscorer in Premiership history when he found the net against Crystal Palace last season. He was soon dubbed the new Wayne Rooney and good things are expected from the Everton youngster.

The E&S reports that Merse has a number of other target should the Joachim deal not come off. Vaughan is a Midlands lad, and given our good relationship with Everton this deal could be a runner - especially as the Toffees are continually looking to bolster their striking options.
