Joachim joins League Two Outfit

Julian Joachim has signed for League Two Boston United. This move is sure to anger fans who will ask "Why".

The rumours emerged on Sunday, and the deal was concluded today. This is - without doubt - The shock transfer of the summer as far as Walsall fans are concerned.

It all looked so good at the end of last season. JJ seemed positive about a move and so did Paul Merson. The ripples slowly began to emerge. The Leeds message was "not on the cheap" - The Walsall message was "Get in the real world".

The news that "extra funds" were available to Paul Merson filled us with hope. It then went quiet for a while - until today, when this news was made official, and Julian Joachim signed for League Two Boston United.

Why has this happend? You can't tell Walsall fans that we aren't in the same financial league as Boston United. They know it's not true. You can't tell Walsall fans that Joachim didn't get on with Paul Merson. They know it's not true.

So what is the truth? Why have the Saddlers missed out on their number 1 transfer target? If it was a Championship Club we'd be a bit more understanding. If it was a fellow League One Club showing a bit of ambition it would have been easy to swallow?

Now no disrespect to Boston (who have made some cracking signings this summer), but Walsall should not be being beat to signings by a League Two Club.

Will we get any answers?
