The great Walsall FC Throw away was in full swing at Huish Park this afternoon. Despite creating enough chances to win 3 games we still lost 2-1 to bottom of the league Yeovil.

THE GAME |

The general consensus from
the Walsall camp is that we should have been home and dry by half time.
Wrack won us the penalty but
will now miss the rest of the season after breaking his fibia. We'd had a
procession of good chances prior to this but yet again we relied on Matty
to do the business from 12 yards.
Phil Jevons ended our run of
4 hours and 5 minutes without conceding a goal when he fired home from
close quarters on 65 minutes. Then we had a bit of deja-vu. Just like
against Swansea our defensive organization went hay wire as Kevin Gall put
Yeovil 2-1 up.

THE FINAL WORD |
|
Four hours of football
without conceding a goal and then we let in two within a matter of 5
minutes. It could have been Swansea all over again. Thankfully it wasn't
and we'll live to fight another day.
I'm also a little concerned
about the goal scoring situation. During the last 7 and a half hours of
football we've scored just one goal from Open play. Other than Fryatt's
goal against Swindon we've relied on own goals, penalties and free kicks.
We all know we need another forward. Is this young Husbands the answer?
Time will tell.
The Wrack injury is a cruel
blow. Our Mr. Utility is likely to be out for the rest of the season. He
hasn't been playing well lately, but his ability to plug a variety of
positions is invaluable to a small squad like ours.
The main positive from the
game is that we've walked away from it knowing we created enough chances
to win it. |
