Great Walsall Wingers - Who is the best?

Walsall fans love there wingers. We have a fine tradition when it comes to exciting wing play. So who is the best?

^{Miah Dennehy (Right Midfield) - A traditional right winger. An Irish International who played at Fellows Park for three seasons. Tricky and pacy, he had a good eye for goal.}

 

^{Colin Taylor (Left Midfield) - Renowned for a powerful shot, had three different spells with Walsall between 1958 and 1973. One of only three players to have made over 500 appearances, with almost 200 goals, an incredible record for a winger.}

 

^{Jeff Peron (Left and Right Midfield) Spent one season at Walsall, where he won player of the season and gave some of the best performances ever seen in a Saddlers shirt. In the opinion of many (including the author!), one of the most skilful players to wear the shirt.}

 

  ^{Geoff Morris (Left and Central Midfield). Came up through the ranks to be a vital member of the team. Fast and skilful - a firm favourite with he fans - a true entertainer/} 

 

^{Johnny Hancocks (Left Midfield) - Represented Walsall 39 times between 1938-46 (War years). Like Colin Taylor, was left footed, with a ferocious shot. Went on to represent England when he played for Wolves, where he made 378 appearances, with 168 goals.}

 

^{Brian Taylor ( Right Back and Midfield). Signed from Coventry, a tricky, pacy right winger, with the ability to score goals as well. Also played at full back successfully. Sadly died young, in his forties.}  

 

^{Darren Wrack.( Right & Left Back & Midfield). Should he see the end of his 3 year deal he'll be due a testimonial at the Bescot. The only current squad member in this part of the poll, Wracky picked up a broken leg against Yeovil and will miss all the 05-06 season. He played a major part in the most successful period of the clubs history.} 

 

  ^{Willie Naughton (Left Midfield). Acquired from Preston, a Scottish born left winger who had the ability to destroy teams on his own, when on song. Had two spells at the Bescot - returning in the early 90s to play under Kenny Hibbert.} 

 

^{Scott Houghton. (Left Midfield). Another firm favourite with the crowd during his time at Bescot. A skilful and tricky left winger with an eye for goal. Played a pivotal role in the Nicholl team that climbed out of Division 3. Left under a cloud to join Barry Fry at Peterborough.} 

 

^{John Hodge (Left and Right Midfield). Could create from nothing, with superb crossing ability. A good eye for goal, as well! Hodge was a real charecter and popular with his fellow pro's. Will always be remembered for the role he played under Sorenson when both he and Peron showed us some of the most exciting wing play we'd ever seen.}

 

^{Mark Rees. (Right Midfield). A legend in his own lifetime, hardly the most skilful player in the club’s history, but very, very fast and always willing to give everything. His exciting wing play from the Milk Cup run is talked about to this day.}
