The F.A. Cup third round draw and a subsequent replay pairs us with fellow League One rivals Barnsley for this festive away-day special. If you decide to make the trip to Oakwell, then this article will hopefully help you to a trouble and hassle-free away day.  For best results, this article can be printed out and taken with you on the day of the game.

Driving Route

This route is scheduled to take approximately 2 hours and 7 minutes to drive.  Away-Day Special recommends leaving Walsall at 10:30am with an estimated arrival in Barnsley between 12:30pm and 1:30pm (traffic permitting).  

Join Southbound M6 J9 (Wednesbury)

Continue until M6 J4A then take left hand lane and join M42 Northbound (The North, M1, Tamworth)
At M42 J9 take the middle lane and continue

Continue on M42 until it becomes A42

Join Northbound M1 J23A (nr Donington Park)
Leave M1 J37 (Barnsley, Manchester)
At the roundabout take the third exit onto A628 (Barsnley, entering Dodworth)

Continue forward on A628 Dodworth Road and continue forward at traffic lights.
At the roundabout take the 4th exit to continue on the A628 (Pontefract, Wakefield, Town Centre)

At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto Wesley Street

Take a right, then left, then right again back onto A628

Turn left onto Grove Street

Arrive at Barnsley Football Club

The ground is well signposted from the A628 and there is adequate parking at the ground.

At the time of writing, the standard Saver Return price of this journey for an adult is £34.40  and for a child is £17.20.

The Away-Day Special Information is that the station is about a 10 minute walk from Barnsley station

A 12:34pm arrival means plenty of time for getting across the town and a pre-match pie and pint.

The return journey is similar, and will take a slightly longer or shorter time depending on which train you catch.  The two alternatives are the 17:26 or 18:01 to Sheffield from Barnsley.  For this guide, I will detail the slightly lengthier 17:26 route.

Tickets and Ground Information
All tickets for the match are the same price, for both home and visiting supporters.  The cost for 1 adult ticket is £15.00 and for 1 concession ticket is £8.00.  Away supporters are situated in the new North Stand where there is a normal capacity of 2,000 seats.
