Lennon won't let referee saga drop

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has prolonged the referee saga by looking for an apology from Dougie McDonald.

At a press conference this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s game with Hearts the Hoops boss said he hoped an apology would be forthcoming from the beleaguered ref, “I would like to think so, yes, just out of professional respect more than anything else. I don't like being lied to.

"I don't know what the resolution is yet. I assume there are going to be new measures but once that all comes out, I will comment on it then."

He also kept things going by expressing his surprise at McDonald being awarded an SPL game this weekend when he takes charge of Motherwell v Hibs, “"I'm surprised at it being so quickly, yes."

Then when asked about the prospect of him taking charge of a Celtic game in the near future, he simply said: "We will cross that bridge when we come to it."

You always have to laugh at a football manager who is looking for an apology when they have been wronged by an official BUT they don’t seem to rush to say sorry themselves any time they have a go at officials and get it wrong.

It happens every week that a manager has a go at a referee after a game, and then when TV pictures are viewed the officials are right but no apology comes from the Manager.

Maybe it is just time to lay off the referees, let them do their job (without them we have no game!) and the managers get on with theirs.
