McGhee in deeper trouble?

Mark McGhee’s hold on the Aberdeen manager’s job is even more tenuous following their 1-2 defeat at home to Inverness tonight.
Aberdeen started the game well enough as they looked to bounce back from Saturday’s 9-0 defeat at Celtic Park, forcing Ryan Esson into a couple of fine saves.
All their good work was undone on 34 minutes when Grant Munro was bundled in the box in an off the ball incident for a penalty, which was converted by Adam Rooney.
Just before half time Darren Mackie was injured in an accidental clash with Esson and he was replaced by Andrius Velicka. The sub brought the Dons back into the game just after the start of the second half with his first goal for the club.
The Lithuanian managed to get on to the end of a Scott Vernon flick to force the past Esson to hand his side a life line.
It wasn’t one they could hold on to as Inverness sealed the points in the 81st minute through skipper Grant Munro. The defender got on to the end of a well floated free kick from Richie Foran to leave Langfield helpless and McGhee’s future hanging by a thread.
McGhee wouldn’t be drawn after the game if he would still be in charge for Saturday’s visit to Ibrox to take on League leaders Rangers.
He said after the game, "Of course I'm prepared to keep going, I know the stage we're at. Look at the list of players on my wall that are unavailable, the eight under-21s I had in my squad. We have a lot more to come and I'm really prepared to see that through."
"Certainly the fans and others will have a bearing on that decision and the feeling I have got from the fans tonight is that they want me here.
"There was no dissension, when I walked down that track at the end all I was getting was encouragement. There wasn't one voice I heard giving me stick or giving the players any stick."
His situation must be getting more untenable every week, only three wins out of 12 in the League so far this season. If results go the wrong way for him tomorrow they could go bottom, although unlikely as that might be given Hibs take on Rangers!
His record is now worse than the last three managers, Calderwood, Skhovdal and Paterson. The Aberdeen fans have hounded all three out, will McGhee be next to go for not matching the record of Alex Ferguson?
Lest we forget in amongst all the Aberdeen stuff, Inverness continued their impressive run of away results, having not lost since 29th November 2010 and moving back into fourth in the table once again.

This obsession with a manager matching or even getting close to Sir Alex - it's a pipe dream. Football has moved on since then and Aberdeen are just one of plenty of clubs who will never see it again. The game is knackered in Scotland and Aberdeen are skint. Just like many more of us have had to do with our own clubs, take off the red tinted specs and start concentrating on the resources you have to play at the level you are now at. <>
