Celtic seek change at the SFA at their AGM

Celtic re-ignited the refereeing debate at their AGM this afternoon, as they look for Dougie McDonald to either resign or be sacked.

Chairman Dr John Reid said to a meeting of 200 sharehodlers, "If the SFA had any sense of their own integrity, they should look at it again.

"His position is completely untenable. The SFA's position on this issue is also untenable."

Reid, then added the SFA need to take "bold, radical action" to combat "stories of lies, conspiracies and cover-ups" within Scottish football.

"We're not asking for special treatment, but neither will we be treated as less than anyone else," he said. "Those days are gone."

He then went on to support an SNP MSPs suggestions refs should declare who they support, "Maybe Peter Wishart's proposals about referees declaring their allegiances should be considered as part of the process," said Reid.

Believe it or not the Celtic board did accept things didn’t go well on the pitch last season, and it wasn’t all down to referees, "Last year on the pitch was clearly unacceptable," said chief executive Peter Lawell.

"We have a new, young, vibrant managerial team led by Neil Lennon that will be here for a very long time."

Meanwhile, Reid shouldered the blame for the appointment of Mowbray, "We got off to a false start under Mowbray," said the chairman. "But we managed to avoid some of the catastrophic financial failures that others fell into.

"Tony Mowbray's appointment was a mistake and I ultimately take responsibility for that."

This mistake doesn’t appear to have Reid handing in his resignation, but in a rather crass piece of double standards expects ref Dougie McDonald to resign after he had made a similar mistake of judgement!
