All SPL games off this weekend

The SPL have taken the unprecedented step of calling off all of their games 48 hours ahead of time due to the recent snowy weather

In a statement today the SPL said, “In light of the severe weather conditions across Scotland, which are forecast to continue for some time, all Clydesdale Bank Premier League games have been postponed on Saturday 4 December.

 

“It is hoped that this early notice of postponement, whilst disappointing, will allow everyone to plan accordingly. New dates for the fixtures will be announced in due course.”

Fixtures postponed this weekend - Saturday 4 December
Aberdeen v Celtic
Hibernian v St Mirren
Inverness CT v Dundee United
Motherwell v Kilmarnock
Rangers v Hearts
St Johnstone v Hamilton Accies

 

Dates to be announced for re-arranged dates in the near future.

 

It does make you wonder when we will come to terms with our weather between November and February and start to look at a season running between March and October.

 

This should be part of the sweeping reform being looked at by SFA Chief Exec Stewart Regan and Former First Minister Henry McLeish. But instead they will tinker around the edges of what is required as always.

 

This postponement also makes a mockery of the stipulation all clubs must have adequate pitch protection, which means all pitches will probably be playable at the weekend.

 

I know the roads excuse will be trotted out, but I have been able to travel 25 miles to work all week, no one has cancelled my work as a result of the police closing roads or whatever!

 

The SFL have yet to decide what will happen to their card at the weekend but it is fair to assume they will follow suit.
