Rangers sale edges closer

It looks as though Rangers fans could get the Whyte Christmas they were looking, as Craig Whyte’s bid to take over the Ibrox club edges closer.

Motherwell born multi millionaire Craig Whyte held further talks with Rangers owner David Murray yesterday on his £33 million takeover bid, and it would appear there has been a general agreement on the deal.

It also appears Rangers potential tax issue is not likely to put Whyte off and once the due diligence process is complete a formal offer will be tabled, and this could all happen this month.

Gers boss Walter Smith will be looking for the new owner to give him some capital to spend in the January transfer window to continue their push on four fronts, including the Europa League and the three domestic trophies.

Everyone knows how wafer thin the Rangers squad is, with a number of youth players being called into the squad in recent weeks, and this would be a timely boost ahead of the transfer window opening.

This sale is unlikely to see a return to the high spending days of the Murray regime back in the late 90s early 2000s, but it will see the club debt free and out of the control of Lloyds bank and in a better position to push forward.
