Rangers end Champions League campaign with a draw

Rangers finished their Champions League with a draw away to Turkish Champions Bursaspor last night.

Rangers started the game with a couple of youngsters in their side, 18 year old Darren Cole making his debut for the senior side.

The Scottish champions started well and took the lead with a cracking goal from Kenny Miller. Steven Whittaker burst down the left and looked to have fluffed his cross but Miller adjusted well to smash a shot high into the net.

Steven Naismith had another great chance to make it two but could only steer Cole’s cross on to the roof of the net.

Bursaspor made changes at half time and spent more time on the front foot and put Rangers under pressure in the second half. They were rewarded with an equaliser when Sercan Yildirim showed great composure in the box to shoot past Alan McGregor.

Rangers can be proud of their achievements in their group this season, and if they can play with the same organisation and commitment in the Europa League they could go far in the tournament.

From a Scottish football point of view we can only hope they go far in the tournament to help build up the co-efficient once again. Hopefully this makes sure this game will not be the last for a Scottish side in Europe’s top tournament.
