SFL Update - 11th December

Three games survived in the First Division this afternoon and Dunfermline had the chance to move above Raith at the top of the table.

The Pars capitalised thanks to a late Joe Cardle effort against Queen of the South. It looked as though the game had gone beyond the Pars when they were reduced to ten men when Gibson was sent off with only 16 minutes left, but Cardle’s goal with only four minutes left move the Pars to the top of the table.

Partick and Ross County were level at half time, with Brittain opening the scoring for the Staggies from the penalty spot. The Jags were reduced to ten men when Alan Archibald was sent off for his involvement in the penalty.

The Jags held on for a hard earned point after Erskine equalised just before the break.

The other game saw Dundee travel to Greenock to take on Morton and after a goalless first half, the Dens Park men took the lead in 62 minutes thanks to a penalty converted by Lockwood.

In the Second Division both East Fife and Brechin took advantage of their rivals not playing with emphatic wins this afternoon.

Brechin moved to the top of the table with a five goal win over Peterhead, thanks to four goals from Rory McAllister, and one from Mark Archdeacon. East Fife moved into fifth with a thumping 6-0 win over Stenhousemuir.

In the third two games survived and Stranraer were held by Berwick at home leaving them only two points ahead of Albion Rovers who now have two games in hand.

In the other game Elgin move into the play off places with a one nil away win at Montrose.
