Old Firm Managers agree – no extension to season

Both Walter Smith and Neil Lennon have both come out against an extension to the SPL to help ease the backlog due to the winter weather

It would appear Neil Lennon would be happy to see his Celtic players play four games in a week at the end of the season if that is what is required.

 

While Walter Smith has thrown his toys out the pram all because the season wasn’t extended for his team on their run to the UEFA Cup Final a couple of seasons ago.

 

Give these are the views of the Celtic and Rangers managers then there is no way we will get an extension to the season as we have seen in recent weeks everything is done to suit these two anyway.

 

It may be okay for them but what about the clubs with smaller resources who would have to play the same eleven for the four games in a week? Doesn’t sound right to me.

 

Would it not just make sense to extend the season and make sure we are not being served up games between sides that could be dead on their feet at the end of the season.

 

Will they also want a say in the SFL where part time teams may not be able to get teams out if players are struggling to get time off work!
