Play offs for the title- you're having a laugh

Surely things are getting stupid with the latest proposal for change in the Scottish game with play offs for the League title being proposed.
The latest proposal is for a play off at the end of the season between the top four teams to decide the League Champions.
This seems a bit of a sop from the clubs who want a bigger League, giving the TV companies the number of Old Firm games the want a season but within a 16 game structure.
I know this is used in American sports as well as both Rugby codes in England but it could be a step too far in Scottish football, particularly given the normal distance between 1st and 4th. This could end up with a team finishing more than 20 points off top hitting a purple patch and winning the title.
They are also suggesting play offs at the other end of the table as well. Which for some reason always seems a good thing as it does create excitement and within a 16 team League maybe wouldn’t stifle the League with frightened teams the way a 10 team League did in the past.
This would appear to confirm there is no consensus in the way forward for our game, and we can only hope those in power get it right or the game could be doomed forever.
