Another two are sceptical about a ten team set up

The strange thing this time is the two clubs who have spoken out today were members of the Strategy Group who recommended the two Leagues of ten in the first place.

Today Motherwell and St. Mirren have said they are not necessarily behind the move to a set up of two teams of ten in the SPL.

St. Mirren Chairman Stewart Gilmour reiterated his club's preference was for a larger top division, although he agreed with Doncaster that a league of 16 teams is not financially viable.

He stressed that his club were yet to decide if they would vote for a top league of 10, but that benefits such as increased parachute payments to relegated teams were attractive.

Motherwell Vice Chairman Derek Weir was part of the strategy group and he has been quick to stress in a statement today that no decision has been made and the opinion of the fans are important.

He concluded his statement by saying, “There is more work to be done before any conclusions are reached and I can absolutely assure you that all input and views are being considered as part of the process.”

It looks as though the vote on 17^th January will reach no conclusion and as we said yesterday at least give the clubs time to take stock of what is happening and come up with the best solution for the whole game not just the Big Two.
