Butcher rattles some cages

Terry Butcher had a major rant on BBC Radio last night about all things to do with the SPL plans for reconstruction.
He believes his club and his Chairman are being bullied by the other clubs, who he sees have capitulated to the Old Firm, into accepting the ten team League proposal.
He also sees the proposed change going against public opinion with fans not keen on the 10 team set up and looking for an increase in the number of teams. The plans he feels are all about finance but without actually explaining how much finance will filter down the Leagues.
He rounded off by accepting change may be needed but wasn’t sure with what was wrong with what we have at the moment, with the much maligned split generating excitement.
It was refreshing to hear someone from within the game express their true feelings and challenge what we are being told is the only way ahead by Neil Doncaster.
The SPL chairman is beginning to sound like Margaret Thatcher when she went through her TINA (there is no alternative) phase!
Maybe Mr Doncaster has to open his mind as well as his ears and realise there are other ways ahead.
