Games on Friday afternoon.

To help clear the fixture backlog the SPL are considering using Friday afternoon’s to ease the congestion.
With so many games called off due to the weather throughout December and January the SPL are now having problems fitting all the fixtures in before the top six split.
Some clubs, Rangers and Dundee United, are looking at the prospect of playing four games in eight days to get the games completed.
One of the suggestions this morning was the use of Friday afternoons, particularly on the weekend of the Royal Wedding and Easter. From what I understand these don’t make too much sense to me.
The Royal Wedding is on the Friday morning, and therefore the games will clash with the celebrations. Then Good Friday is a day when most English clubs don’t play as this is the most important day in the Christian calendar.
There is also the other trivial point that not everybody in Scotland will get these holidays!! Once again all fans are not being considered here, particularly as I guess the clubs will also be playing on the Bank Holiday Monday.
Surely the police could get over their aversion to Friday nights as it seems to be okay for Rugby, why not football!!
