Calderwood goes to Ross County

Sadly for Hibs fans it’s not Colin but Jimmy who has taken over the job in Dingwall following the sacking of Willie McStay last week.

Calderwood has been out of work after his short term tenure at Kilmarnock in the second half of last season. He takes over the Staggies when they are second bottom of the First Division only four points ahead of Stirling Albion.

He has already been in charge of two other Scottish clubs, he started with five years at Dunfermline, where he got them promoted to the SPL and led them to the Cup Final in 2004.

He then spent another five years at Aberdeen, where he was never really accepted by the Dons fans, possibly as a result of his well known liking for a Govan based club.

Despite regular top six finishes and European football, including reaching the last 32 of the Europa League, he was always under pressure. This seemed to be as a result of the propensity of the Dons to lose to lower League teams in Cup competitions.

This seems a strange role for Calderwood to take up, it was always thought he would be a cert for an SPL club. Given Motherwell and Hibs have already failed to consider him for their job maybe this was all he could get!
