McCoist to appeal two match ban

The SFA have confirmed that Rangers assistant Manager has appealed his two match ban imposed after the last Old Firm game.

The SFA statement reads, “An appeal has been received from Rangers assistant manager Alistair McCoist against the automatic two-match suspension imposed on him after being charged with misconduct relating to the Scottish Cup fifth round match between Celtic and Rangers on Wednesday 2 March 2011.

“His appeal will be considered by the Disciplinary Committee at its next meeting on 12 April 2011.”

It all seems unclear at the moment whether the charge is for incidents across the 90 minutes or for the confrontation at the end with Neil Lennon.

If it is for the 90 minutes I am not sure why he is appealing given he had to be pulled from the Celtic technical area when Lennon and Diouf clashed. If this is not on the charge sheet and it is for the clash with Lennon at the end, I am not sure he deserves two games for that.

He may have said something out of turn but how can we judge unless we know exactly what he said to Lennon.

For once Lennon and Celtic appeared to have taken the punishment as no appeals appear to have been lodged by them. This makes sense to me given his finger pointing and snarling throughout the game!

Lets see what happens on Sunday at the League Cup Final, although Lennon is already in the stand for this one already!
