Scotland fightback to beat Wales

Three second half goals were enough to see Scotland come back from a goal down at half time.

The first half was poor stuff with Scotland’s play being exceedingly slack to break down a much changes and under strength Welsh side. Naismith did manage to pull a save from Myhill, although he should have done better and left the keeper with no chance.

Wales took the lead just about 10 minutes before the break, Crainey and Brown failed to deal with a long ball allowing Earnshaw in with a clear run on goal. The striker kept his cool to draw McGregor and clipped the ball over him as he rushed from goal.

At half time Scotland were booed off and looked a disjointed side as they struggled to impress the Tartan Army.

The equaliser came in 54 minutes, Charlie Adam picked out James Morrison and he swept the ball past Myhill to bring the Scots back into it. Scotland were ahead seven minutes later, this time Morrison was the provider and he found Miller who managed to stay on side and pick his spot.

Christophe Berra rounded of the scoring with towering back post header from a Stephen Whittaker cross. This took some of the pressure off Craig Levein whose side had looked all over the place in the first half.

There will have to be a marked improvement if Scotland want to win the trophy on Sunday against the Republic of Ireland.

There must, though, be doubts over the future of a tournament like this given the sparse crowds the last two nights. This may also have put the final nail in the coffin of any return of the Home International Championship.
