Daily Record headline causes a storm

The Daily Record this morning which included a reference to whether the Taxman or Neil Lennon will be the most hated man at Ibrox tomorrow.

Ahead of the Old Firm game this has sparked off a bit of a storm as the focus with the authorities is to move the focus back to the football and not on to the off field shenanigans that surround this game.

While it may have seemed like a bit of a joke when the headline and the supporting graphic were put together but someone at the paper should have thought about whether any reference to “hate” was a good idea or not.

Not surprisingly, Celtic have slammed the Daily Record for "inflammatory" and "highly irresponsible" reporting ahead of Sunday's Old Firm game.

Celtic has demanded the newspaper makes a retraction and issues an apology. The club has also announced that Neil Lennon and his players will no longer co-operate with the Daily Record.

This seems a sensible reaction from Celtic, and it is disappointing Rangers haven’t reacted just as quickly, maybe that is yet to come.

Hopefully the record will also listen to what Celtic have to say and learn from the reaction to this headline and don’t repeat it in the future.
