Hearts and Saints big winners on SPL Saturday

Hearts and St. Johnstone were the big winners on an SPL Saturday with Inverness losing to Dundee United to slip to the bottom of the table.

Hearts took their unbeaten run to six games with a comfortable win over St Mirren at Tynecastle this afternoon. Jamie Hamill scored from the penalty spot with two minutes to go before half time, when Illias Haddad fouled Marius Zaliukas in the penalty area.

 

The home side then doubled their lead in the second half when Lee Mair dived to head the ball into his own net. The Saints struggled to find a way back into the match despite earlier efforts by Kenny McLean.

 

The defeat ends St Mirren's four-match unbeaten run on the road and edges Hearts two points aboveKilmarnockin the Scottish Premier League table into fourth place.

 

Saint Johnstone stunned Motherwell with a 3-0 win atFirPark, Saints opened the scoring after 20 minutes thanks to a Tim Clancy own goal. Saints were fighting hard to make sure that Motherwell couldn’t get into the passing rhythm which has served them so well this season.

 

A goal gifted by Steven Hammell with 20 minutes to go sealed the three points for Saints. The Well defender squared the ball across his own defence but only picked out Zandaza who roundedRandolphto roll the ball into the empty net.

 

A further goal from Craig with five minutes left put the icing on the cake, and made it four away games for the Saints without losing a goal.

 

Inverness lost 3-1 to Dundee United to drop to the bottom of the table withAberdeendrawing with Kilmarnock, and Hibs drawing atEast EndParkwithDunfermline.

I think the league is settling down ,hearts and dundee unt are better than results would suggest ,motherwell are worse than there results suggest.Inverness as bad as there results were .
