Hibs sack Manager Colin Calderwood and Vladimir Romanov says he is thinking of selling Hearts, what is going on in Edinburgh?

After a 0-1 defeat at home toDunfermlineyesterday, and protests outside the stadium after the game the Hibs board decided to take action today. They didn’t resign, they didn’t come up with new ideas for revenue generation, they took the soft option and sacked the manager.

This would appear to be typical around the time of the Hibs AGM (it takes place on Tuesday), last year they sacked John Hughes and the year before they signed Derek Riordan.

It will be interesting to see how the Shareholders react on Tuesday, particularly as the board turned down compensation fromBirminghamandNottinghamForestto take Calderwood as their Assistant. This would appear to have cost the Easter Rd outfit £400k to £500k.

Having said that Calderwood’s record was abysmal and he looked to have no idea how to fix it. There have been reports the players liked working with him, from what I hear that is because he let them have their own way too often.

Over in Gorgie, Mad Vlad has been on the Hearts official website again today, the only way they will communicate with the public, given they are not speaking to the Scottish Media.

He appears to have lost patience with Scottish football but at the same time realises he will need to cut Hearts cloth to match their income, “Hearts must therefore prepare to reduce investment in the playing squad to match the income in the coming season and turn to the Academy for its new additions while also improving revenue streams, including working on a new stadium in order to achieve this as soon as possible.

"I now have to consider finding a partner or selling the club."

This is a far cry from the days where he was telling us Hearts would win the title and then the Champions League! I did say earlier in the week he did appear to be planning his exit strategy and this latest rant would appear to confirm that.

Once again it is not down to anything he has done but the media, the football authorities and the culture of our nation!!

In one way he will be missed (for his comedy element) and in others he won’t (as he appears to want to run Hearts into the ground).
