Hearts up for Sale

It looks as though Vladimir Romanov’s flirtation with Scottish Football is heading to end as he puts Hearts up for sale.

Romanov’s seven year spell at Tynecastle could soon be coming to an end as he confirmed today he wants to sell Hearts and get out of football all together.

The news comes only a day after the news broke the payment of players wages were once again late, although some of the players have been paid today.

Romanov breezed into Scottish football claiming he would get Hearts to the Champions League in five years, and bring World Cup players to the club. Sadly he hasn’t really delivered to the Hearts fans expectations.

In truth his constant ranting about the media mafia who have been compared to monkeys, then about the establishment (The SFA and the SPL) who don’t support the teams in the East and favour the bigger clubs, have made him and Hearts a bit of a laughing stock.

Will he be able to find a buyer? With a debt of £30 million who will be interested? There wasn’t exactly a queue to buy Rangers, with David Murray happy to take a £1 and get rid of the debt.

While Romanov’s sale of the club may appear good news on the surface, it could have a darker side if he really wants to get out football quickly. He may be forced to put the club into administration to clear the debt and therefore make the club more attractive.

No doubt there are a number of twists and turns to come before this story reaches the end, whatever that end might be!
