No more magic left in the Scottish Cup.

We had three Scottish Cup replays this week but they hardly attracted any interest from the fans of the six clubs involved.

The crowds at the three games were;

Total - 7732

Average – 2574

This hardly indicates there is any magic left in the Scottish Cup for the punters, to the point Dunfermline only opened one of their four Stands!

I am sure it was a difficult shout forInvernessfans to travel from the north on a midweek night when the game was on Sky TV. In fact this seems to have put off some of the locals as well, given it wasn’t a season ticket game.

Apart from this is it time to stop replays? I have been a traditionalist for a long time and was a bit disappointed when we moved away from playing replays until the game was done. I now think we should end replays as no one seems interested any more.

The League Cup has sprung a few shocks this season, which the Scottish Cup hasn’t, maybe it is because the teams know they have to finish the game on the night.

Is this a step too far for the SFA and the clubs? Will the smaller clubs give up the chance to earn a bit of money if they can get a replay against Celtic or Rangers!

Once again it is time for change but do the people ofScotlandhave the bottle to do it!
