Transfer window closed, what now – part two

The transfer window closed yesterday, but what does it mean for the rest of the teams in the SPL teams for the rest of the season? 

Aberdeen– brought in good SPL experience with Mark Reynolds and Stephen Hughes (formerly of Motherwell) and Gavin Rae fromDundee. I think they have done well in the window and with their current form and these additions could even push for top six place in the rest of the season.

DundeeUtd – They lost youngster Scott Agnew early on when he moved to WBA but they held on to Jonny Russell. They brought in one major player Milos Lacny, a Slovakian striker on a year’s loan deal. Again I think United will be pleased not to have lost anyone will hope they have added goals, they will be challenging for top six withAberdeen.

Hibs – hard to keep up with the ins and outs at Easter Rd as Pat Fenlon looks to re-jig his squad in his own image! This is almost the last throw of the dice for Hibs as they must have run out money to pay off mangers, cope with relegation. Therefore they will need to hope Fenlon has got it right.

Hearts – not the mass exodus we were expecting from Tynecastle, more down to a lack of real interest in any of the players being touted for sale. They did see Jonsson and Stevenson head out the door, but held on to Kello, Skacel and Templeton. This should leave Hearts with a squad capable of mounting a challenge for third.

Dunfermline– They did manage to bring four in without anyone of note going out. Keeper Iain Turner came in, as did Mark Kerr for a bit of experience and Rangers youngster Kyle Hutton and Jordan McMillan. The future for the Pars could depend upon what happens at Hibs! I do fear for them and think this is not enough to prevent them from the drop.

St.Johnstone – held on to Sandaza despite alleged interest from Rangers, they also extended the loan of Cillian Sheridan. They also added a couple of decent signings in Croft fromDerbyandComptonfromFalkirk. All in all they have certainly improved their squad and will be in the shake up for third.

Motherwell – Added one and lost none, in came the explosive new talent of Henrik Ojamaa who will be well known to SPL fans already with three goals in only four games for Well. They also held on to Jamie Murphy despite interest fromBlackpool. Should still be good enough for them to stay in the top 3 or 4.

Inverness – Wolves strike Sam Winnall on loan, along with Wallsall winger Claude Gnapka came in but they lost Lee Cox toSwindon. They also held on to Johnny Hayes which will be a major boost, no fear of relegation with the additions to the squad.

St. Mirren – One addition, Dougie Imrie fromHamilton, no major losses will see the Saints continue their good form for the rest of the season.

Kilmarnock– Ben Gordon back on loan from Chelsea, Belgian striker Dieter van Tornhout and also Celtic defender Lewis Toshney on loan with no one of any note heading out. They had Derek Riordan on trial but nothing came of that. The rest of the season could depend on how they go in the League Cup Final, but boss Kenny Shiels will be looking to turn draws into wins if they want to push up the table.
