Saint Johnstone’s 1-0 win at Inverness last night saw them close to within five points of Motherwell in third.
Much has been written about Motherwell’s European credentials and how they are closing in on Rangers, and there has also been talk of the excellent run Dundee Utd are on leaving St. Johnstone to sneak under the radar.
The Saints are now fourth in the table, only five points behind Motherwell and in fact only eight behind Rangers after last night’s 1-0 win at Inverness, thanks to a first half penalty from Sandaza.
Steve Lomas’s side have been overlooked for a while, despite looking certainties for a top six and Europa League spot all season. They now have Rangers and Motherwell looking over their shoulders as we head into the business end of the season.
With only seven games to go, and five of them against the same sides it will be interesting to see who has the bottle to get over the line.
Even Dundee Utd are talking of catching Motherwell in third, who themselves are looking to catch Rangers and finish in second. While the League title will be over in the next game or two, the race for the European places looks as though it will keep the interest alive.
