Scotland just not good enough

Scotland’s International side closed the season out with a hammering at the hands of the USA in Jacksonville last night.

They got off to the worst possible start by losing two goals in the opening ten minutes.Scotlandpulled one back before the break through an og.

Landon Donovan clinched a hat trick in the second half as the Americans ran out five goals to one winners.

The worrying thing for me was one of Craig Levein’s quotes after the game, "There was one team focused and ready to play and another who looked as though they had finished the season and had nothing to play for."

This seemed to confirm what I made of the trip when it was announced and what I read on Twitter during the week. It smacked of a chance to get off to an early start to the holidays for the players and officials.

This can be the only reason they left last Sunday, almost a week before the game, and stayed inOrlando, three hours drive from the venue where the game was being played.

I would suggest the manager should take a look at his role in getting his team ready. Surely one of his key tasks is getting the best from what he has, not allowing them to go out and play golf and relax at the pool.

It also bugs me when Levein tries to convince us the team is getting better, but this is the type of result we were picking up under Berti Vogts and he was hounded out of the job.

Where does Levein go from here, and can we trust him to get us toBrazilfor the World Cup??
