Even more trouble for Rangers, old and new.

The Crown Office has said they will conduct a criminal investigation into the sale of Rangers, while Inverness and Aberdeen become fourth and fifth clubs to confirm a newco vote for the newco, enough to block inclusion

A statement from the Crown Office issued today said; "The Crown Office has today instructed Strathclyde Police to conduct a criminal investigation into the acquisition of Rangers Football Club in May 2011 and the subsequent financial management of the Club.

"The investigation into alleged criminality follows a preliminary police examination of information passed to them in February this year by the Club administrators.

"The Procurator Fiscal for the West of Scotland will now work with Strathclyde Police to fully investigate the acquisition and financial management of Rangers Football Club and any related reports of alleged criminality during that process."

This, along with the investigation from liquidators BDO, should flush out what has gone on at Ibrox and point the finger at the correct men. This will maybe give the Rangers fans some “closure” and make them realise is who is to blame here, and it is none of the 41 clubs in the four divisions!

Meanwhile, Inverness Caledonian Thistle have become the fourth SPL club to confirm it will vote against a newco assuming Rangers membership in the league. They will vote no to the proposal at the SPL general meeting on July 4.

Club chairman Kenny Cameron made the decision after listening to fans of the team, and said that supporter pressure helped him to come to the decision.

Mr Cameron said: "It is fair to say that in excess of 95 per cent of them raised the issue of sporting integrity as the reason why they don't want the newco to be admitted and had not yet renewed their season tickets.

"Financially, we examined the various scenarios and, frankly, none of them were positive for our club, it is extremely disappointing to be adversely affected by something not of our doing, unfortunately this is a similar situation for the rest of the clubs in SPL.”

Aberdeen also came out today and said they will vote no as well, and hammer the final nail in the newco’s coffin. The next question to answer is, who will club 12 be to complete the fixture list?
