Time to stop the scare stories for Scottish Football.

The Scottish Papers are in turbo drive trying to get behind Rangers newco to ensure they are not placed in the third division.
There seems to be an opinion gathering pace in the tabloid press telling us if Rangers are dropped into the Third Division this will kill Scottish Football. This is the same press that have told us for years the dominance of Celtic and Rangers has been killing Scottish football.
They seem to want to have their cake and eat it in all of these arguments. It would appear credibility will be lost around the world if they are put in the third division, whereas we have also had the case for having no credibility if they are in the First.
There seems to be no balance in our tabloid press, they are almost becoming Rangers newco’s PR arm, feeding the masses what they want to hear. This type of reporting is only fuelling the victim mentality some Rangers supporters have built up.
We also have the scare story in the Record saying 20 SFL clubs would end up in financial trouble if Rangers were in the third division. This could only be the 10 teams in the First and Second Division as surely the Third Division sides will be getting a windfall by playing two homes games against Newco FC.
You have to ask why all of a sudden, teams who survive without home games against Rangers for years can now be in bother. I believe it is down to the clubs losing a payment from the SPL, but surely the SPL have a contract with the SFL to pay this money. This, therefore, could only affect the SPL clubs with the SFL clubs being either as well off as they are now, or better off by playing newco FC!
I, for one, can’t wait until we get back to talking about games rather than all of this financial, political nonsense.
