SPL Clubs – time for action, let’s make a decision today

Today is the day for the SPL club chairmen to make a decision and allow Scottish football to move on, rather than leave it rudderless.
There are hints in the media this morning that the SPL clubs may NOT vote on whether newco Rangers will be accepted into the SPL or not. Scottish football can no longer stand the procrastination we have had since Rangers went into administration in February.
There is now a move towards Rangers being “placed” in the First Division rather than the Third Division. This is meant to be a move to prevent “Financial Armaggedon” if this is not carried out.
What I would like to see today is that Rangers newco are NOT accepted into the SPL and this leaves the decision to the SFL meeting on July 12th. This would give the SPL a week to lobby the SFL clubs to get what they are looking for.
It would appear the SPL clubs are terrified the SFL clubs will put them in the Third Division, and lead to the Armageddon that is being predicted. This is causing a decision void, for the want of a better expression.
There appears to be a hardening of opinion in the SFL that they don’t want to do the dirty work for the SPL clubs, which seems fair enough to me.
Therefore it is time for the SPL clubs to stand firm, make a decision and move the game forward. If it means cutting their collective cloth to suit the way ahead, so be it.
If not the SPL should be disbanded as not being fit for purpose and the clubs should be looking to re-join the SPL.

Things are clearly shapping up for a delay in the SPL vote, then if the SFL vote for a Third Division start for Rangers the SPL will then vote in favour to retain them in SPL...an outrageous situation and one which would destroy all credibility in the game.
If Sky can be convinced to continue the existing deal on basis they show Rangers' 1st Division games, then why can't they be persuaded to show their 3rd Division games..afterall the viewing figure difference between Dumbarton vs Rangers and Clyde vs Rangers is what?? zero !?! I would throw in the option for Sky to televise the play-off finals and ask them to be a true partner and stand by scottish football in its moment of need. Get Rangers into Third Division..its best for Scottish football and it is best for Rangers too as it should avoid punative sanctions.
